Teaching your dog great recall is one of those must haves when you get a dog but often does not go to plan.
I’ve listed below some tips that may help..
For good Recall always teach a good Stay and or Wait. This will teach your dog to be calmer and more focused on you especially in a place with distractions.Often taught at Puppy Class but rarely practised afterwards!
My top tips :
Practise recall in high distraction areas and use a long training line to keep control.
Add a whistle to your recall. Call your dog then add in 3 pips on your whistle to link them together
Use a high value treat only when your dog responds to you in a high distraction area. Treat only when your dog has earned one!
